I’m not sure to? understand. So, if you realize that you didn’t choose the right way when you were 16, you have to go back to school?

There is a difference between being bad at something and being? a bad student.

The thing is you can educate yourself even when you are over 60y old. After “peruskoulu” you can try many many things. I’m 23? and went back to school. In 3y I’m suppost to be Game Designer. FREE education… no matter how old are you or which city you came from.

It is terrible to read the comments on this issue.. angry people specially from USA who cannot comprehend that their country is not the first one. It is terrible to read the angry comments on? a subject that has no anger in it. I am specially very surprised that people in USA get very angry if they learn that other people not USA born study foreign languages.. they start to insult the people who, like me, have studied their language and are not perfect in it..We study bec. you do not want to do it

I just started the 9th grade, and im supposed to? find out what I want to study/do after the 9th grade in the next 6 months :P But the peruskoulu system works well :)

  8. Sarettapro1984 says:

The system? of “peruskoulu” it’s absolutely ridicolous! How could you decide your future at 16?

  9. 1stchoicemodern says:

Totally different than the U.S. version of No Child Left behind!?

Well, in biology in 9th grade? we focus mainly on human biology. We study human anatomy, physiology. We learn about pregnancy, sexually transmitted deceases, safe sex. It’s such a long list that I don’t have the patience to tell you everything in detail. :)

I’m very amazed by Finland’s education system. Everything from the role of teachers in children’s lives to even taking off shoes when the children get to school makes perfect sense. I agree with many points made in this video, especially the fact the American education system is swarmed with political values. if anyone agrees I just wanted to? point out a very noble author by the name of Sir Ken Robinson who examines and explain’s the fallacies within education systems.

What’s there to wonder about? The first classes about that are on 5th grade at the age of 11 to 12. Those lessons are normally given by the class teacher. As a male teacher I have also held a? “boys’ lesson” for boys of different classes too, so there is a mutual part as well as separate lesson for boys and girls. Then at the age of 14 to 16 there is a subject that covers also it, “health knowledge”. That subject is taught by a specialist of that area.

The best way to? learn anything is in a team environment. Like a foreign languages and music. This is what makes the El Sistema music program in Venezuela so successful. It is not just kids going their own ways but everybody in small ensembles and getting ahead by teamwork and partly peer pressure. In a country like the US some even consider private schools an alternative to the often underfunded public system. Here the public system seemed to work miracles…

  23. arch571332 says:

Most students can teach each other better than teachers. Additionally, teaching something to someone else is also a good way to better learn it. I learn that in college.

This is the main reason why their? education works better, the rest is incidental.

  24. NakedWombatStuff says:

I believe that one of the most important factors in a successful education system is the mentality of the nation’s people. In West, the mentality sucks where business is impossible to please and far too many parents expect the school to do everything for? the child.
