First, it's GrAnada...Grenada is an island in the Caribbean.

7 days? You can't hit all the major cities in 7 days.

Stick to the south. You might be able to spend a couple of days in Madrid, but you don't have time for Barcelona.

If you really want the major cities, they are (in order of importance/size)
Madrid
Barcelona (a bit larger, and very important, but Madrid IS the capital)
Valencia (for size)
Sevilla (for importance historically)
Toledo and Segovia are both jewels
Granada - historical and a precious jewel
Cordoba - history
Santiago de Compostela - culturally.
Bilbao, if only for the Guggenheim museum.

If you only have 7 days, fly in and out of Sevilla, stay there, and day trip to Córdoba. Take a couple of days in Granada, and you might take a day to drive the Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos, or go to Ronda, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, or Málaga, or one of the beach towns on either coast. You might want to take a day for Doñana park, near Cádiz.

How long is needed to see a wide variety of things; i.e. A few Brazilian cities, Argentina, Boliva, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia & Venzuela? Was thinking 2.5months.

Is Colombia safe? What about Bogata?

Is it worth visiting Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador ? Whats the best things in each of these & are they safe?

Would it be too hard/costly to head towards Cental America?

How much would it cost/how long would it take to visit the following; Easter Island, Galapagos Islands or Falkland Islands? And would any be worth while visiting?

Would US a day be enough to get by on for 2 or 3 months without to much of a struggle?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I say just starting planning just now to see who wants to go with me.
And almost forgot; when would be the best time of year to go?

From what I know, Colombia is your biggest issue. I was in Ecuador and wanted to visit Colombia via bus, but all my local friends said that it is dangerous and difficult to enter in this way, and I could not afford to fly. However, many of my American friends made the trip and they were safe. Just stick to the tourist areas and watch your pockets.

If you visit Ecuador, look into visiting Montanita (a hippy beach town 3 hours from Guayaquil) or Banos (a sports mecca in the mountains, 3 hours from Quito). Ecuador is beautiful and has a lot to offer.

As for money, is plenty! You can be low budget and safe for much less. I have stayed in hostels in south america for less than a night.

Question by Kramer: What are cool things to do in Buenos Aires?
Me and a friend will be traveling to Buenos Aires in early March of 2009. We're both relatively young guys at 25 and are looking for things to do. We will only be in B.A. for 7 nights and are then traveling to Uruguay for an additional 5 nights. Tours are fine but I would much rather do my own thing and stay off the beaten path. Unless it is an off the beaten path type of tour of course. Besides, we are on a budget and side trips to Mendoza or Patagonia are probably too expensive and time consuming. If anyone has any advice on local restaurants, bars, activities...etc. it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
